A pastoral respite for couples in ministry.

Jesus said, ‘Come off by yourselves; let’s take a break and get a little rest.’ For there was constant coming and going. They didn’t even have time to eat.
MARK 6:31

SIX31 is a four-day, three-night respite where ministers and their wives can rest, refresh, and reconnect.

“We are committed to chipping away at pastoral discouragement one pastor at a time.”

Rest. Reflect. Reconnect.

“This is too hard, I just want to quit!” If we haven’t said it out loud, almost all of us have certainly thought these words. What’s particularly alarming today is that 40% of pastors under the age of 40 say they would quit if they had something else to do. Pastoring has never been harder.

SIX31 is committed to chipping away at pastoral discouragement one pastor at a time. Everyone knows
pastoral weariness and fatigue come with the job. Pastors miss soccer games, have sleepless nights, and struggle to take days off. It comes with the territory. What’s needed is a place to “take a break and get a little rest.”

Drawing on 40 years of pastoral experience, Mark and Luana Norman are committed to hosting these front-line warriors, providing listening ears, and creating an environment of encouragement and supportive prayer. This revitalizing experience occurs in an Annapolis area Bed and Breakfast where recreational opportunities abound. With no formal agenda, each couple can embrace time away in activities unique to them. There is no cost to the pastoral couple.

Your Refreshment is Our Goal

Plan on arriving Monday afternoon and departing Thursday morning.

We’ll share breakfast each morning and visit a Kent Island restaurant together each evening.

Walking and cycling opportunities abound. Quaint towns, antique shops, and historic sites offer lots of exploring. Kayaking, fishing, paddleboards, and more are only feet from the back door.

Weather permitting, a sailing adventure with us is an option. Golf courses beckon. The US Naval Academy is open for tours. The ocean is only two hours away for beach lovers.

We know the value of sleeping in, taking a nap, reading by the water, or a good conversation by the fire pit. We’ve felt our own batteries recharge by going hand-in-hand for a walk or sitting in the hot tub.

A short prayer time after dinner will conclude the day.
